principalWelcome to the San Francique Presbyterian School’s Website.

We are pleased that you have taken the time to visit the San Francique Presbyterian School website.  San Francique Presbyterian is a safe place for students from diverse backgrounds to grow educationally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. At our school each child is encouraged to have a meaningful school experience.  Our students are given an equal opportunity to excel both academically and in extra-curricular activities.

The staff at San Francique Presbyterian School is committed to improving the lives and future of our pupils.  We stand in the gap of homes motivating pupils to achieve higher levels of education.  It is our aim to break the cycle of poverty which now envelops our pupils by facilitating their learning.  It is our hope that their lives will be greatly improved by our nurturing and fostering their thirst for education.

We strive to create an environment where each and every student is given the attention necessary to achieve his/her individual success.

My mission as Acting Principal is to always put Kids First!  My belief is that all students can learn and it is our job to support all of their needs.

  • History of School:

The school is made up of a two storey concrete and wooden structure with an area of approximately 2400 square feet.  The building is over fifty (50) years old.  Recently the flooring and ceiling were repaired by the Education Facilities Company Limited. The teaching staff comprises  ten (10) teachers and one (1) Acting Principal. The school has one (1) Business Operations Assistant 1 who assists the Principal and three (3) members on the ancillary staff that ensures the compound is always well kept.

The San Francique Presbyterian School is located in a rural agricultural area. Most parents earn a living from agriculture and fishing.  The pupils experience adverse socio-economic conditions.  There is considerable rate of illiteracy among parents.  Many pupils belong to single parent families who do not value education.  A culture of complacency exists especially in the area of education.   The school has seen an increase in its population over the last two years.

Leadership at this institution prior to 2008 was unstable. There were several persons acting as principal which proved to be a weakness in terms of development and implementation of policies and structures to improve teaching and learning.

It must be noted though that Mr. Ian Ramlal, was appointed Principal in 2008 and various strategies for improvement have been developed and implemented. In 2014, Mr. Ramlal was promoted to School Supervisor 1. A dedicated, tolerant and committed staff work under difficult conditions to ensure that learning takes place. Lack of resources, lack of parental support, poverty and domestic violence are only a few of the obstacles faced by the staff but yet the school continues to strive for excellence. Results have shown the commitment of the staff as the school still manages to perform creditably at National Test and S.E.A. Examinations.

Although there have been many challenges the school has been successful in various activities. The school has won the Penal Zone Boys and Girls Cricket on several occasions.  The Boys cricket team moved on to the semi-finals and got the opportunity to visit Tobago where they played against Whim Anglican Primary. Our school was also the Champions of the Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Festival 2014/2015.  In academics the school is among the top seven (7) schools in St. Patrick in terms of averages in S.E.A. results.

The main focus of the school is to ensure that all our children are given an equal opportunity to learn. The Curricular Programme in this school consists of Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, General Science, The Creative Arts, Physical Education, Moral Education, Agricultural Science, and Religious Education.

The extra-curricular activities of SAN FRANCIQUE PRESBYTERIAN SCHOOL will help pupils to explore their talents, to make profitable use of leisure time, build character and complement curricular activities.  Activities such as Red Cross, 4H, Sports, etc.
